Sally Healy Community Impact Award
About Sally:
Ms. Sally Healy was a NEPA pioneer in her own right. She is a force of nature, intelligent and a strong woman to many who knew her. Sally worked for decades as the organizer of the Neighborhood Impact Team, taught English at LCCC for over 30 years- teaching her students far beyond paragraphs, sentences, or the importance of a punctuation mark, she had a fine and genuine quality of attention to everyone coming in contact with her. Her drive for making sure everyone is included will truly be missed.
Award Details:
This yearly award is bestowed upon a community member in recognition of their passion, focus, drive to care, ability to listen and the strive to accomplish the goals we thought were out of reach. The award will also recognize someone who gives up their time to address concerns, answer questions and volunteers by giving back to the community.
Creative and Performing Arts Mentor of the Year Award
This yearly award is bestowed upon a creative and performing arts mentor who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference in NEPA. This individual can be school- or community-based, such as a vocal coach, art teacher, music teacher, community theater director, drama club advisor, dance instructor, choreographer, choir director, etc.
The honoree mentor is chosen based on:
1) demonstrated the ability to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;
2) exceptional skill and dedication as a mentor in NEPA.
3) gaining respect and admiration from a broad spectrum of students, parents, and colleagues, and;
4) Demonstrating a strong ability to foster excellence in creative and performing arts, as evidenced by ongoing contributions to the improvement of student learning, the learning environment, and NEPA.
Once selected by the NEPA Pride Project's selection committee, the Creative and Performing Arts Mentor of the Year will receive a grand prize of $250!
